Four-hour Barricade Ends Peacefully

A man with access to guns kept deputies at bay in Dana Point Saturday.

A man barricaded himself in a home off of Selva Road in Dana Point for nearly four hours Saturday.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies cordoned off Pequito Drive and a helicopter buzzed from above before the man was removed without incident, said Lt. Steve Gil. The suspect’s name and some of the details have not yet been released.

The events began with a domestic dispute in which another party was knifed, Gil said.

“Fortunately, the injuries did not require hospitalization,” Gil said.

The suspect refused to cooperate with sheriff’s deputies, Gil said. Because there were guns in the house, police did not barge into the home. Instead, they shut down the block to through traffic.
