L.A. Man Dies In Rollover Crash

An early morning collision with the center divider on the northbound 5 near Camino Las Ramblas kills a 28-year-old Burbank man.

A 28-year-old man lost control of his Mini Cooper early Sunday morning and died after crashing into the center divide and rolling the car multiple times.

The driver, Thomas Abdoyan of Burbank, crashed on the 5 north at about 3:13 a.m. Sunday just north of Camino Las Ramblas, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to police, Abdoyan was headed northbound in his red 2006 Mini Cooper when he veered left and smashed into the center divide, causing the car to roll over multiple times before coming to rest on its roof.

The car ended up about 650 feet away from the initial collision site, back near the right side of the freeway, police said.

Firefighters struggled to extract Abdoyan from the wrecked car because of the "extreme damage" to the vehicle, but eventually pulled him from the vehicle and rushed him to Mission Hospital, according to CHP.
