Man Held on $50,000 Bail in Bloody Mary Incident

Shawn Mead Crane, 39, is charged with alleged battery and aggravated assault.

A San Juan Capistrano man was set to be arraigned Thursday afternoon after he was accused of hitting his neighbor with a cane, then dumping his bloody mary on her.

Shawn Mead Crane is charged with two misdemeanours, aggravated assault and battery. Crane, 39, has previous DUI and drug possession convictions.

He is being held on $50,000 bail.

According to sheriff's Lt. John Meyer, the caller who reported the incident, which occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, caught the series of events on video.

Meyer said the woman was not seriously injured.

The caller reported that after Crane allegedly dumped his drink on the neighbor, he yelled racial slurs.
