Reckless Driver Leaves People Screaming

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: These are various reports selected from the San Juan Capistrano Police Dispatch Services log throughout the past week.

The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. The true nature of an incident often differs from what is initially reported. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided. 

At 1:06 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a suspicious circumstance in the 31500 block of Calle La Purisima. The report stated that several minors were attempting to break down a fence to a closed community pool. Deputies were able to locate the minors on the east side of the pool outside of the fence.

At 8:17 a.m. Monday, deputies arrested a 55-year-old man in the 32200 block of Del Obispo Street. The man had a warrant out for his arrest. He was taken into custody, and bail was set for $1,500.

At 7:31 a.m. Monday, deputies arrested a 33-year-old man in the 32300 block of Alipaz Street. The man was arrested with three other subjects and was taken into custody when police discovered he had a warrant out for his arrest. Deputies took the man into custody, and bail was set for $2,500.

At 5:53 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a battery in the 31800 block of Camino Capistrano. The report stated that a person was assaulted at the restaurant. The subject did not wish to prosecute.

At 12:22 a.m. Sunday, a caller reported a suspicious person in the 28000 block of Paseo Del Marino. The report stated that a man was sitting in the middle of the road near Calle San Remo. Deputies contacted the subject and transported the man to an address on Avenida Buena Vista.

At 11:54 p.m. Saturday, a caller reported a reckless driver in the 27700 block of Paseo Barona. The informant reportedly witnessed a vehicle driving recklessly up and down the street with people screaming.

At 8:18 p.m. Saturday, a caller reported a suspicious circumstance near the intersection of Camino Del Avion and Via Positiva. The report stated that a group of suspicious looking men was hanging around a gold Impala and possibly being malicious at a baseball field and nearby snack bar. Deputies responded and conducted a vehicle search.

At 12:22 p.m. Saturday, deputies arrested a 33-year-old man in the 32100 block of Camino Capistrano. The man was caught stealing from and was taken into custody with a bail amount of $50,000.

At 6:31 a.m. Saturday, a caller reported a suspicious circumstance near Surfrider Court and Mariner Drive. The informant was reportedly concerned about a subject who was sleeping in his tan truck with a surfboard in the back. Deputies reported detaining two subjects.

At 8:17 p.m. Saturday, a caller reported a drunk in public near the Rancho Viejo Road-Ortega Highway intersection. The report stated that a drunken woman came into the and was causing a disturbance. There was no report of an arrest.
