The city of San Juan Capistrano is alerting residents that the National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning issued, beginning at 2 a.m. Friday morning and continuing through 8 p.m. Sunday evening.
Winds will average between 25-40 mph with gusts to 50-65 mph, according to the city memo. Peak winds are indicated for Friday night and Saturday. Current guidance indicates the wind will likely reach the coastal areas. A prolonged period of low relative humidity (5-10 percent) with poor overnight recovery is also predicted.
