Report of Auto Parts Theft Leads Deputies on Foot Chase

Victor Castrejon, 26, was arrested on suspicion of resisting deputies.

A man who led Orange County sheriff's deputies on a foot chase on Alipaz Street on Monday night is in custody, authorities said.

Victor Castrejon, 26, was arrested in connection with the pursuit that began while deputies were responding to a call about a man seen attempting to steal parts from a car at a mobile home park in the 32000 block of Alipaz Street, authorities said.

"During the investigation into this crime, [a deputy] was in a perimeter position, when he was surprised by a male subject lurking in the shadows on the opposite side of the street," Lt. John Meyer said.  The deputy "stepped into the street and the subject immediately ran westbound toward Alipaz."

Meyer said the man, later identified as Castrejon,  jumped the San Juan Mobile Estates boundary wall and ran west across Alipaz Street. Deputies gave chase, jumped the fence and followed him up the driveway into the Casitas de Alipaz condominium complex.

The chase continued until Castrejon eventually turned around, gave up, and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of resisting arrest and obstructing deputies.
