After Economides and another motorist pulled off the road 2 miles above Lake Elsinore, he allegedly shot the other motorist in the chest, Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Todd Pauling said.

The other motorist, who was not identified, and a passenger had both approached Economides as he sat in his car moments before the gunshot rang out, Pauling said.

Economides fled but was later found in a school parking lot on Grand Avenue in Lake Elsinore, Pauling said. Readers contacted Patch to say other drivers chased the suspect after the shooting, finding him in the school lot, where he was arrested at gunpoint.

The alleged victim was taken to an area hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
