San Diego Coroner Identifies San Juan Capistrano Woman Killed in Freeway Crash

Nancy Ann Hull was a pasenger in a van that crashed just south of Border Patrol checkpoint in San Clemente Monday.

A 75-year-old woman killed on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway when her husband crashed their van into a stalled box truck was identified today.

Nancy Ann Hull of San Juan Capistrano died Monday in the crash that happened about 10:15 a.m. accident just south of Border Patrol checkpoint in San Clemente, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

A transmission problem caused a box truck to stall in the No. 3, according to CHP Officer Jim Bettencourt, who said the driver put up reflectors to warn of the hazard.

But Hull's husband apparently did not see the truck in time, and their 2004 Chevrolet van hit it, pinning the woman inside, Bettencourt said.

Bystanders tried to revive the woman, but fire personnel from Camp Pendleton declared her dead at the scene.

Hull's husband, who was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital, was said to have stable vital signs. Three dogs in the van were turned over to animal control officers.
