Runner David Aronne was supposed to be in Boston today, but ex-wife Norma Aronne said work matters prevented his trip east.

“He didn’t go. Thank God,” Aronne said. “I’m sure he’s grateful.”

The race tracker showed four San Juan Capistrano runners finishing before the explosions:

  • Robyn Burgoon at 3:52:59
  • Corey Collins at 3:14:10
  • Margie Prescott at 3:28:46
  • Jeffrey Young at 3:21:50

Elsewhere, there were multiple reports of victims with missing limbs, bloodied heads and other serious injuries.

Closer to home, the Orange County Sheriff's Department promised to step up patrols "at local sporting/entertainment venues and other large gathering places."

“Although the tragic incident in Boston ... appears to be isolated, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department is on heightened alert,” Sheriff Sandra Hutchens said in a statement. “We are actively reaching out to local event organizers to review their safety protocol, as well as ensuring our first responders are properly equipped with necessary resources should a similar incident occur."
