Supposed Antique Dealer Caught with Burglary Tools

The 50-year-old has several priors, according to court records.

Deputies responding to a burglary alarm in a business district on Tuesday morning discovered a person they suspected to be the culprit.

Lt. John Meyer said Keith Nelson Bender didn’t have any stolen items on him, but he did have burglary tools.

The 50-year-old listed his occupation as an antique dealer.

“Lock picks – most people don’t carry in their pockets at 5 a.m. in a business district,” Meyer said.

The action took place in the 32300 block of Camino Capistrano.

Bender remains in custody. According to court records, he has a number of prior convictions, several of them for theft or burglary.
