Suspect Ditches Drugs in Bushes

A deputy watches someone throw something in the bushes. Turns out it was a baggie of meth.

Deputies arrested a San Juan Capistrano man Wednesday night after allegedly ditching some drugs into the bushes.

Lt. John Meyer, chief of police services for the city, said a deputy patrolling the Los Rios Historic District when he saw three people congregating. As he approached, two fled on foot, while another threw something into nearby shrubbery.

Deputies discovered a baggie containing 2 grams of methamphetamine and were able to catch up with the suspect. Edgar Saldivar, 19, was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and destroying evidence, Meyer said.

He was booked into Orange County jail, where he remains, in lieu of $20,000 bail, according to county records.
