UPDATED: Toddler Found in Hot Tub Airlifted to Hospital

A Dana Point family discovered their unresponsive toddler in their hot tub this morning.

UPDATE: As of 5 p.m., the 1-year-old boy is still alive, according to sheriff's officials.

A toddler is battling for life today after being discovered unresponsive in a Dana Point hot tub Friday morning.

Police received a report of a toddler found in the water at 10:40 a.m. on the 26800 block of Calle Hermosa, said Gail Krause, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

“The family was giving CPR when deputies and the fire authority arrived,” said Krause.

The child was rushed to San Clemente Hospital where the child was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

"They got a pulse back at the hospital," and then rushed him to the children's facility at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where he is in critical condition, said Orange County Fire Authority Marc Stone.

It's not clear exactly how old the boy is, but he appears to be about 18 months old, Stone said.

As a parent who has endured a very similar horrifying experience the only comment I would leave is to PRAY for this little boy. We'll be praying for him and his family as so many countless friends and strangers prayed for us! We were truly blessed by the power of those prayers AND the incredible treatment our child received at our community hospital, Saddleback Memorial Meducal Center- San Clemente. Like the report stated, "they got the pulse back at the hospital". It was that same facility with a staff of professional, prepared and committed doctors and nurses that we attribute to saving our child's life before he was transfered to CHOC in Orange. We are truly blessed to have received such good care here in our community hospital and at CHOC. Again, please pray for this little boy and please ask others to do so as well.

"...the only comment I would leave is to PRAY for this little boy..." The "only" comment? (But thanks for propagating your religiosity.) I can think a some better comments from someone who experienced this. How about recommending people secure their hot tubs better when there are little kids around? I won't be praying or performing any other superstitious acts that have never been known to accomplish anything. I will however, use this sobering article to survey my home for potentially dangerous conditions for children.

I will say a prayer for this family. I will also say one for Charles as well.

It does not matter whether it was a joke or not, Shirley. You clearly have a problem with the San Clemente Hospital and you are trying to draw attention away from the near death toddler to your own agenda. Loads of Shame on you!
