Trial Date Set for Spanish Teacher Accused of Teen Sex

Ricardo Aldana, a former JSerra teacher, is scheduled for a December jury trial.

A judge on Monday set a jury trial date for a former JSerra Catholic High School teacher and coach accused of sex with a student.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Craig Robison set Dec. 3 as the start date for the trial of Ricardo Aldana, 37, who pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The Dana Point teacher was fired from JSerra, where he coached the boys soccer team and taught Spanish, after his arrest in December 2011.

He pleaded not guilty Jan. 30 to seven felony counts of committing lewd acts on a child.

The defendant met the girl at JSerra when she was 13, according to prosecutors.

The two regularly texted and spoke by telephone, sometimes late into the night, the girl told investigators.

Prosecutors allege he had sex with her in his Dana Point home when she was 14 last September.

If convicted, Aldana could get up to seven years in prison.
