Truck Careens Off Road, Into San Juan Creek

The vehicle, pulling a trailer, broke through a barrier and landed next to the creek, flowing with recent rain run-off.

A Dodge pick-up pulling a trailer careened off Ortega Highway and fell into the embankment at San Juan Creek— which was flowing with recent rain run-off—at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The driver of the truck appeared to have been westbound on Ortega Highway before crashing through a metal barrier and falling into the creek bed. 

The California Highway Patrol, Orange County Fire Department, Orange County Sheriff's Department and an ambulance responded to the accident. The driver of the truck was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital.

One lane of eastbound traffic on Ortega Highway was closed during while crews rescued the driver.
