Vehicle Overturns on Ortega, Traffic Shut in Both Directions

UPDATE at 10:39 p.m.: A motorist was seriously injured today when his car rolled over on Ortega (74) Highway in a crash that blocked traffic while firefighters worked to free the victim.

The 45-year-old victim lost control of his four-door sedan and landed on the car's roof, breaking some bones and suffering a head injury, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi. The crash occurred in the westbound lane about 12:50 p.m., about two miles from Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park, Concialdi said.

UPDATE at 2:14 p.m.: At around 2 p.m., both lanes were open again. A patient was transferred to Mission Hospital.

A car has overturned on Ortega Highway near Caspers Wilderness Park just east of San Juan Capsitrano.

Park rangers have advised the California Highway Patrol that someone is trapped in the vehicle, according to the CHP call log.

The call first came in at 12:49 p.m. The log shows a single-car accident with the white car on its roof, blocking traffic.

Both lanes have closed.
