Woman Who Survived Jump Onto Freeway Is Recovering

The 44-year-old San Clemente woman was hospitalized for two days before she was sent home.

The woman who tried to commit suicide  in Capo Beach Friday is home recovering from her injuries.

That’s the word from Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino.

“A lot of people were interested in the story. I got a lot of calls,” Amormino said.

A 44-year-old San Clemente woman perched perilously from the bridge at Avenida California about 10:10 a.m. Friday.

California Highway Patrol officers stopped traffic in both directions, and those stuck in the ensuing jam watched as sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers tried to talk her away from the ledge.

To the horror of onlookers, several of whom have posted their thoughts at Patch, she jumped at 10:25. The woman survived the fall.

The woman was taken to Mission Hospital and on Sunday, she was released.

“She is recovering from her injuries,” considered to be serious, Amormino said. “They treated her and sent her home.”
