A 44-year-old San Clemente woman perched perilously from the bridge at Avenida California about 10:10 a.m. Friday.

California Highway Patrol officers stopped traffic in both directions, and those stuck in the ensuing jam watched as sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers tried to talk her away from the ledge.

The woman was taken to Mission Hospital and on Sunday, she was released.

“She is recovering from her injuries,” considered to be serious, Amormino said. “They treated her and sent her home.”
