An Intersection Where Everyone Runs the Red?

Even after winning an award, even after getting a $40,000 makeover -- in that order --the intersection of Rancho Viejo and Junipero Serra roads is not a safe place to traverse.

At least according to the intrepid cameraman and vocal San Juan Capistrano city critic Clint Worthington, who shot this video of the driving public flagrantly running red lights. 

The video shows car after car, and in one case, a very large truck, running the red light to turn left from northbound Rancho Viejo Road to westbound Junipero Serra. 

Worthington shared his video with city staff as well as putting it on YouTube. City Manager Karen Brust said she will solicit help from the city's traffic engineers as well as notify San Juan Capistrano Police Services.
