Auditing Finance Ad-Hoc's First Meeting Today; Council to Meet in Closed Session

The ad-hoc committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. in City Hall, the City Council at 1 p.m.

A newly formed, six-memberwill meet for the first time this afternoon, Friday, to select an auditor who will inspect financial transactions in specific city departments. The committee is also slated at the meeting to pick the budgets to be audited.

The City Council has previously suggested that the ad-hoc committee probe the Community Redevelopment Agency and the utilities department, especially the water funds.

According to the agenda, the auditing committee is composed of Mayor Sam Allevato, City Councilman Derek Reeve, Utilities Commissioner Raymond Miller and residents John Perry and Jim Reardon. There is also one seat that has not been filled.

The City Council will meet in closed session 2½ hours before the ad-hoc committee meeting to appoint an interim city manager,.

The council is also scheduled to confer with labor negotiators to determine the salary of the interim city manager.
