City Manager's Update: Dec. 22, 2011

Santa, the Marriott, Costco, ball fields and more.

 

Santa Visits:  The deadline to book the “Santa Makes House Calls” program is coming up fast. If you would like Santa to visit your home/business/party this holiday season, call the Community Services Department to schedule Jolly Ol’ St. Nick at (949) 493-5911. The final regular visit is Friday; limited visits for Dec. 24 are available for an additional fee.

Sports Fields:   The following fields are closed for maintenance and to get ready for spring sports: Hausdorfer Baseball Field, Sports Park Nos. 1 and 4, Marco No. 3, Cooks Cordova Nos. 1-4, and Acu Park.

Marriott Residence Inn Hotel:  Staff performed a walk through inspection on Dec. 14. , about a month ahead of schedule.  The carpets, furniture and appliances are almost completed and the hotel may be open January.

Costco Wholesale Warehouse: is nearly complete.  Final inspection resulted in a punch list of minimal landscaping and parking lot and tenant-improvement items.

Mission Grill (Pedro’s Tacos): The Design Review Committee approved the architecture and forwarded to the Planning Commission, which will conduct a public hearing on Jan. 10 for possible final approval.

Dog Park:  The Development Advisory Board, Design Review Committee, Open Space Trails and Equestrian Commission and the Parks, Recreation and Senior Services Commission have all reviewed and provided comments. The Planning Commission will review the design concept on Jan. 10 and provide final recommendations to the City Council for consideration in February.

Del Obispo Street Bridge Widening: In the past week, the contractor constructed scaffolding to prepare for the bent cap construction. They surveyed for the girder construction. They also graded, constructed forms and poured concrete for a portion of the channel lining.
