City Manager's Update: Feb. 11, 2012

The Mission Grill, the Lemon Grove, kindergarten readiness classes and more.

: The project received significant comments from the Planning Commission and was referred back to the Design Review Committee (DRC). Two DRC members and staff met with the applicant and his architect to address commission concerns and fine tune the architecture. The project will go to the DRC on Feb. 16 and back to Planning Commission on March 13.

DEL OBISPO STRETT BRIDGE WIDENING: In the past week, the contractor continued installing base for the northern portion of the bike path. Workers tied steel and built forms for the bent caps, and intermediate and end diaphragms of the bridge. They also built forms and poured concrete for the curb along the west side of Paseo Adelanto, south of Del Obispo Street. Because of the improvements needed on the existing bridge deck, the project completion is delayed to June 2012.

IRRIGATION FOR THE EAST OPEN SPACE : Construction is now underway to establish the site irrigation system, irrigation water source and planting/drainage berms as part of the initial phase of work within the next two months to get the site ready for the planting of citrus trees anticipated in April 2012.

: Sales for tickets began for the Youth Advisory Board’s Glow Dance to be held at the City Gym on Saturday, March 17. Presale wristbands will be sold for $15 and wristbands purchased at the door will be $20. DJ K2 will provide his unique musical taste and talents for this event. The dance is for high school students only and current high school IDs will be required for admittance. To purchase tickets, please ask a Youth Advisory Board member or call the Community Services Department at (949) 493-5911.

SUMMER NITES CONCERT SERIES: Staff is in the process of reviewing and interviewing various bands for the city’s upcoming . Sponsors have submitted their music style preferences and the department is working to fulfill those requests. This year’s concerts are scheduled6-8 p.m. June 20, July 18, Aug.15 and Sept.19 at Historic Town Center Park.
