Fiesta de las Golondrinas, a glow dance, the dog park and more.
FIESTA DE LAS GOLONDRINAS: The annual Fiesta de las Golondrinas is just around the corner and city staff, the Fiesta Association and other members of affiliated organizations are meeting regularly to coordinate this time-honored tradition of events welcoming the swallows back to San Juan Capistrano. Events include:
- Taste of San Juan, Feb. 15
- Kids Pet Parade, Feb. 26
- , March 17
- Fiesta Grande, March 21
- , March 23.

: At the Youth Advisory Board meeting, an enthusiastic Board worked diligently on plans for the scheduled Glow Dance to be held at the city gym on Saturday, March 17. Presale wristbands will be sold for $15 and wristbands purchased at the door will cost $20.00. This event is for high school students only and current high school IDs will be required for admittance. Sales began this week.

SENIOR SERVICES: Staff has secured a date to host a physician-led educational seminar on shingles, a viral infection that causes a painful rash and is most likely to occur with those aged 50+. The seminar is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15 at the . A representative from , independent from the guest speaker, will be available after the seminar for those who would like to schedule a vaccination at a later date.
: A building permit was issued for Phase 2 to construct a two-story, 20,050-square-foot classroom building.

DESIGN: The commission and board reviews are complete, the plans are with the civil engineering consultants and the item will be presented for City Council consideration on March 6.
: The Mission is proceeding on completion of the gatehouse project anticipated in March. The barricades and pedestrian walkway along Camino Capistrano were revised to improve public safety.
STORM DEBRIS: Kuno’s Grading, Inc. began operations to remove debris from city property on the northeast corner of San Juan Creek and Valle roads. After heavy storms in the winter of 2010-11, mud removed from several locations was stored there.
