Council Meetings Debut on Web Tonight

No need to trek to City Hall. You can keep tabs on the goings-on from your computer/tablet/phone.

They probably won’t be rolling out the red carpet at City Hall, but tonight’s City Council meeting is the first ever that will stream live on the internet.

Back in December, to set up the camera and hire a company to broadcast its meetings on the web.

So curl up with some popcorn and your laptop. Here’s what’s on the agenda:

  • A change to the city’s General Plan – that will require a citywide vote – to shift around some open space to , currently on the market and being eyed by Shea Homes
  • A proposal to in Dana Point that would convert sea water into drinking water
  • Future use of the city-owned, historic ; the City Council has suggested it move fast to get in a new tenant, , while a commission says and get the job done right
  • Approval of the final plans for
  • Permission to the Open Space Foundation to build a passive park at the
  • Approval of the second-quarter financial report, which shows the city’s water operations are still in the whole, now down to $5.3 million instead of the $8 million it was looking at last year
