In-N-Out Backs Out of San Juan Capistrano

The popular California drive-thru said it needed more space for parking than what the vacant Sizzler lot provides.

Animal-style fries and double-doubles won't be cooked up in San Juan Capistrano anytime soon.

In-N-Out has withdrawn its application to build a drive-thru at the site of the vacant Sizzler on Del Obispo Street, according to Mayor Sam Allevato.

"They said they wanted more parking," said Allevato.

City Councilwoman Laura Freese has said she wants to eventually see all of the fast-food restaurants on Del Obispo Street relocate to the south side of town. The relocations would likely occur when Del Obispo Street is in conjunction with the new Ortega Highway interchange off the 5 freeway.
