“Republicans in the House have always been for a clean CR increase if it
meant we began the serious negotiations on the kinds of reforms that
need to happen…entitlements as a shortcut for it. That's what the deal
is about right now.”
A "clean CR" is short for a "clean continuing resolution" to fund government without other changes attached.
Issa had previously voted for measures to fund the government only if the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare as it's known, was defunded or delayed.
The federal government has been closed since Oct. 1 and Congress is battling over whether to raise the debt ceiling and avoid a first-ever default on Thursday.
Issa's 44th District includes Carlsbad,
Encinitas, Oceanside, Del Mar, Camp Pendleton, San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan
Capistrano, Coto de Caza and Ladera Ranch.
