Ortega Construction: Week of March 17

Here's what you need to know.

  • During the week of March 17, crews will continue to close the outside lane in each direction on Ortega Highway (SR-74) between Del Obispo Street and Rancho Viejo Road. This work is necessary to install temporary traffic signals on Ortega Highway at the southbound I-5 on- and off-ramps as well as at the northbound I-5 on- and off-ramps.
  • Caltrans has removed the fences surrounding the former Jack in the Box lot on the corner of Ortega Highway and Del Obispo. These fences will be replaced by the contractor. Please be advised that this lot is considered a construction site and use caution when in the area.

Neighboring Projects:

  • Beginning on Monday, March 18, the City of San Juan Capistrano and SDG&E will perform work simultaneously with Caltrans on the I-5 / Ortega Highway Interchange Improvement Project during overnight closures. This activity will last approximately two weeks and is necessary to perform utility work.

Scheduled nighttime closure(s) from Sunday, March 17 through Saturday March 23 include:
