Ortega Construction: Week of May 20

Expect lane reductions and ramp closures this week. And it's T-minus 1 1/2 weeks until the bridge shrinks.

We’re less than two weeks out before the Ortega Highway bridge over the Interstate 5 shrinks to two lanes for a year.

Until then, here’s what to expect this week in terms of navigating the interchange.

Lane Reductions from Sunday, May 19 through Saturday, 
May 25


Lane reduction on northbound I-5 between Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road:

  • Lane closures nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23 
  • Lane reduction on southbound I-5 between Junipero Serra Road and Camino Capistrano. Lane closures nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23     

Ramp Closures from Sunday, May 19 through Saturday, 
May 25

I-5 Southbound off-ramp to Ortega Highway (SR-74) Closed
  • Ramp closed nightly between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21 
I-5 Southbound on-ramp from Ortega Highway (SR-74) Closed
  • Ramp closed nightly between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21    
I-5 Northbound on-ramp from Ortega Highway (SR-74) Closed
  • Ramp closed nightly between  11 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23 
I-5 Northbound off-ramp to Ortega Highway (SR-74) Closed
  • Ramp closed nightly between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 22 and  Thursday, May 23
