More than 50,000 residents in Orange County signed up for health plans through Covered California in the final three months of last year, the agency announced today.

Covered California is the state's marketplace for the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Orange County constitutes 10 percent of the 500,108 consumers enrolled statewide in the ObamaCare health insurance marketplace.

“We're pleased by the enthusiastic response consumers … have shown in wanting quality and affordable health care to protect their families,” Covered California Executive Director Peter V. Lee said.
