UPDATE: City Adjusts Intersection

Workers give drivers more time to clear the intersection.

After receiving a video of car after car running the red at one of the city’s more hated intersections, the city has made some adjustments to the traffic light timing.

Clint Worthington, who made the video showing drivers running the red as they turned from northbound Rancho Viejo Road to westbound Junipero Serra Road, said he has received word that the city has already attempted to solve the problem.

An email to him from Director of Public Works Jim Ross explained that the city has adjusted the timing, lengthening the green arrow for the left turns and delaying the green for southbound traffic on Rancho Viejo.

“This should give the intersection more opportunity to clear between cycles,” Ross wrote.

The city will continue to monitor the intersection, Ross said in his email.
