A Snowy Day in San Juan Capistrano

Students at JSerra Catholic High School don't have to dream about a white Christmas. They've already had one.

This just in: Today’s forecast for San Juan Capistrano is sunny, high of 72 with a 100 percent chance of snow.

JSerra Catholic School surprised its students at a Christmas-tree lighting ceremony in the quad today. First Father Damien Giap blessed the tree (with a hearty “Go Lions!” after the amen), the switch was flipped and the tree was lit, then the choir sang, “Let It Snow.”

Then it did.

While the students knew their last period would be shortened for the first-ever tree-lighting ceremony, they didn’t know about the precipitation on tap, said Principal Frank Talarico. A few did wonder why the choir would sing “Let It Snow” of all songs, and did start to put it together.

“We can’t get mad at that,” he said.
