Del Obispo Elementary Has McFun

Teachers and staffers sling some burgers, fries and cookies to the hungry masses at the annual fundraiser at the McDonald's in San Juan Capistrano.

When the guy behind the counter asked, "Would you like to super-size that?" on Monday night, he looked awfully familiar to students from .

That's because it was Mr. [Eric]Gruenewald, their principal. Or maybe it was Ms. [Sylvia] O'Malley, their third-grade teacher.

And then there was Señora [Claudia] Infante, the bilingual liaison who works in the office. But she was selling cookies.

The moonlighting was a fundraiser, with this year's proceeds going to another teacher who has worked this fundraiser in the past but this year cannot, first-grade teacher Kelli Groves.

Groves, and her 10-year-old daughter Sage, who also is a student at Del Obispo, were in and are still recovering from their injuries.

Ross Pollard, owner of the local McDonald's, is keeping busy. It's Ambuehl's turn tonight. Just in from the Ambuehl listserv: top by McDonald’s this evening between 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and an Ambuehl teacher will serve your food with a smile! Located at 31822 Del Obispo in San Juan Capistrano, 20% of all sales during McTeacher Night on March 20 will help support PTA sponsored programs such as Class Act and Meet the Masters. When ordering food, show the McTeacher Night flyer that was sent home with students recently or mention Ambuehl School. This offer is only good for dine-in or take-out orders. Drive through orders do not qualify for the 20% back to Ambuehl. Contact Lauren Dendiu at ldendiu@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
