Mission School Students Rally for Vandalized R.H. Dana

When Mission Basilica School students heard about the vandalism at the Richard Henry Dana Exceptional Needs school in Dana Point, they pulled together to raise $1,681 to help fund repairs.

R.H. Dana serves 65 disabled students from the local area with specialists in occupational and physical therapy, adapted physical education, vision, mobility, audiology and health services. Vandals reportedly broke through skylights to trash the campus earlier this month.

"Over the course of many years, the students of have come to love the children at R.H. Dana Exceptional Needs Facility because every December and April our 7th grade students host a fun-filled day for the R.H. Dana students," said spokeswoman Susan Kinsey.

Under the leadership of Mission School's Chains Link Club, the students raised funds by hosting a pizza party. The club was formed in memory of Rachel Joy Scott, the first casualty in the Columbine High School tragedy.
