PHOTOS: Arrr You Ready for Halloween?

The students at Del Obispo Elementary are because Halloween is also Pirate Day.

This morning's school day started with a hearty, "Ahoy, maties!" before the routine Pledge of Allegiance. 

Forget Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day. Students at Del Obispo Elementary go all out.

For about a decade now, Halloween at the elementary school which serves San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point students is Pirate Day.

The day allows everyone to dress up similarly in inexpensive-to-throw-together costumes that are just a "tiny bit historical," with Dana Point Harbor so close, said Principal Eric Gruenewald.

Also, the theme ensures no one wears a costume that is "super grotesque or super inapprpriate."

No only the students, not only the principal, not only the teachers, but parents dress up, too.

"It's worked out really well. It's one of the most requested events," Gruenewald said.
