State Teachers' Union Money Entered Capo Election

In a 20-day period in October, the California Teachers Association donated nearly $500,000 to various school campaigns. Find out to whom.

The largest special interest group in the state is the California Teachers Association, according to the California Fair Political Practices Commission, collecting nearly $1 million in the first three weeks of this October alone.

The organization turned around and gave half of that money away in that same time period, Oct. 1-20, most of that on one day: Oct. 10.

So which Orange County races in Patch towns were helped out with CTA money? An online financial document reveals the information.

  • The Capistrano Unified School District teachers’ union political action committee. The CTA donated $14,870 to the Capistrano Unified Education Association’s Help Organize for Children PAC. It was the statewide group’s first donation of the year.
  • The Huntington Beach Union High School District Educators Association, $15,000 for the teachers PAC.
  • Ocean View Teachers Association PAC, $4,000.
  • Westminster Teachers Association PAC Political Action Group for Education, $3,000.
  • Committee to Elect Ian Collins for Fountain Valley School Board, $300. (He won.)
  • Ginny Aitkens for Saddleback Valley Unified School Board, $1,500 (She won.)
  • Don Sedgwick for Saddleback Unified School Board 2012, $1,500. (He won.)
  • Suzie Swartz for Saddleback Valley Unified School Board 2012, $1,500 (She won.)

Another affirmation of the fact that CTA controls K-12 public education in CA.

Wonder how many people even understood the first COEXIST sticker, let alone this one

Paige, I'm confused too. Just imagine how the Statue of Liberty/ Mother of Exiles must feel aboutRead More being on the sticker. Caring for our tired and poor immigrants, our tempest-tossed and huddled masses yearning to breathe free, doesn't seem to be a top priority for capitalists, after all. Maybe she should be replaced with someone else who could look like an "i"... maybe Joe the Plumber with an outstretched arm holding a plunger?

Easily as laughable as the mixed message of the effrontery of the coexist sticker... the simplestRead More explanation may be the truth.

To Cox Cable: Make sure Trumbo signs where the customer wants him to sign... Just came back fromRead More Pechanga where Mark was signing and he was signing baseballs with sharpies; not signing on the sweet spot, putting ASTERISKS (!?) after his name on jerseys; and signing helmets on the back, behind the ear flap... Don't take expensive items down there...

The City approved the plans for Del Taco many years ago. What they did not approve was the changeRead More in the color to the tiles and the change in color to the outside of the building. Those are changes to the original plans submitted by Del Taco. As the Design Review Committee pointed out, these changes are not acceptable. The City does have strict requirements regarding signs and architecture.
