The popular Two-Way Spanish immersion program will be extended to preschoolers come September.
The Capistrano Unified School District started the Two-Way program in 1992 at Las Palmas Elementary in San Clemente. It's since been extended to two more elementary schools – San Juan Elementary in San Juan Capistrano and Viejo Elementary in Mission Viejo – and two middle schools and two high schools.
But now, parents wanting their children to grow up biliterate can get an even faster start. The Two-Way preschool will be a full immersion program for preschoolers. Classes will be offered at San Juan and Viejo Elementary, according to an email that went out from San Juan Elementary.
There will be a Tuesday-Thursday class for 3-year-old children (3 by Sept. 1) for $240 per month and a Monday-Wednesday-Friday class for pre-K children who are 4 years of age (by Sept. 1).
Open enrollment dates are listed on the preschool website.
The district's Two-Way program for Mandarin Chinese already starts in an optional fee-based preschool.
