Hoping to get in the Guiness Book of World Records for most students wearing pajamas, 300 children from Ambuehl Elementary joined students from around the Capistrano Unified School District and came to school in their jammies today.
The wore their PJs, and they brought some with them, to give to children in foster care.
This event, sponsored locally by the school's service club, Ambuehl's Ambassadors, netted more than 80 pairs of pajamas at their school alone.
This districtwide event was organized by Sharon Yanaura of PJs from Heaven.
"This is the first wear-a-pair, bring-a-pair event," said second-grade teacher Heidi Caestecker.
Caestecker said the event has been in the planning stages for some time. She and fellow teacher Kim Fleischer are advisers for the service club, Ambuehl Ambassadors.
