Soils Problem Limits Mountain Pines' Inventory This Year

Only the first will get the locally grown trees. More trees will be trucked in to meet the demand.

Black Friday usually becomes “green Friday” at the Mountain Pines Christmas Tree Farm, but this year, there will be less of the freshly cut green.

The farm sent out an email that a soils issue this year has limited the supply of home-grown pine trees. Extra pre-cut trees will be sent in to make up for the lower inventory, but if you want one of the Monterey Pines or Leylands, you’ll have to scoot.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but can assure you we will have our regular selection in the years to follow,” says the email.

In a follow-up email to Patch, farm officials said the soils issue has been resolved.

“We are in great shape with our crop for future years.”
