Capo High Schools Come Together for Ice Hockey

Called the Capistrano Coyotes, it's their first season in the Anaheim Ducks High School League.

Capistrano Unified high schools will add high school ice hockey to their sports lineup this year.

The Anaheim Ducks High School League, which launched in 2008 with local school JSerra Catholic High School, will double in size, from 14 teams last year to 28 this.

Capistrano Unified’s entrant, the Capistrano Coyotes, pulls players from all its high schools, said Mike Perkins, coach at JSerra.

"The ADHSHL (Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League) and CAHA (California Amateur Hockey Association) have done a great job of growing high school hockey throughout the state and more specifically Southern California. The Ducks League has doubled in size from last season to this season and continues to gain interest," Perkins said.

The Coyotes’ schedule kicks off Saturday against Corona-Norco in Anaheim.
