'Catching up' with a Padres Recruit from San Juan Capistrano

Austin Hedges represents the United States in a game that took on the world.

The San Diego Padres featured on its website the progress of catcher Austin Hedges, who signed with the San Diego Major League Baseball team after graduating JSerra Catholic High School in 2011.

Hedges started for the U.S. Team in Sunday's SiriusXM Futures Game at Citi Field. His highlight was throwing out a player for the World Team trying to steal second. The U.S. beat the world (!), 4-2.

Hedges currently plays for the Storm in Lake Elsinore, the Class A minor league for the Padres.
