CIF Dreams Dashed for SJH Boys Vball

The Stallions lose out to West Ranch High School in the second round of championship playoffs.

The Stallions boys volleyball team went down Thursday night in second-round CIF play-off action.

This is the first season the boys from have made it to post-season play. On Tuesday, and earned the right to travel to Stevenson Ranch (near Magic Mountain). 

The teams were evenly matched and split the first two games, according to the Newhall Signal.

West Ranch head coach Nate Sparks told that paper his team just wanted it more.

The tipping point came in the third game, the paper reported.

"The Wildcats scored three straight points to finish it off when San Juan committed a back-row violation," wrote the Signal.

More like a bad call, said Dave Schickling, parent of SJHHS's Ryan Schickling.

"It was all downhill after that. Disappointing end to a great season," Schickling said.

According to the Signal, Ryan Schickling led the Stallions with 13 kills and James Brown added 11.

The scores for each game went 25-21, 17-25, 31-29 and 25-15.

West Ranch will go on to face Laguna Beach High Saturday.
