St. Margaret’s, hoping to win its first Southern Section championship since 2009, took a step in the right direction with a home victory over Twentynine Palms.

Second-seeded St. Margaret’s will play at Lake Arrowhead Rim of the World in the second round—for the third year in a row.

Key Stats: Joshua Davis passed for 154 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for two touchdowns for St. Margaret’s.

Pivotal Moment: Twentynine Palms hadn’t mounted much offense but still trailed by only two possessions, but that changed when Oscar Gomez Jr. scored from 8 yards with 52 seconds left in the first. The difference between two touchdowns and three is huge.
