It proves an up and down week in soccer for Capistrano Valley Christian's boys team, but beyond the pitch the school unites in prayer for one of its own.

Last week in soccer was an exciting one.  We played four games this week. Oh my goodness, my body is still sore from it. Not much I can do about it. Anyway, we had some improvement and greatness shine through this week.

Last week we began with practice. Not exciting by any means, but it is something everyone has to do.  Our first game of the week was against Crean Lutheran.  We walked into the game looking for an easy win. However, the game went different than how we expected. We played terribly and lost 1-0. It was a bad game. This game did teach us one thing though. It taught us that we need to play as a team and not just for ourselves. I guess this was the motto for the week.  At least it turned into the motto for the week.

“Play as a team and not for ourselves.” This phrase would help us improve greatly throughout the week. Our next game was against a league opponent and a very important one.  We played Southlands Christian.  Southlands seemed to be on par with us. We were evenly matched and the game resulted in a tie.  Ties are good. I mean you do not lose, but then again you do not win. We came out of that game not satisfied and wanting more. We were so close to another win, but so far away.

The next opponent was Avalon. We got the opportunity to play them back-to-back. Avalon is one of the best teams on our schedule. Last year this team won the CIF Southern Section championship for our division. So, we were expecting a tough battle until the end. The game was just as we expected and was hard fought. However, we came out victorious 2-0. When the game ended, the party started. We were all so happy. It was like we just won a tournament or something. Everyone freaked out. However, the party was short lived because the next day the came back to beat us by the same score.

CVCS soccer had an exciting week to say the least. We went from ultimate low to ultimate high within a week. On a side note, our school had quite a bit of drama this week. A girl in our school named Myndi had some health issues and went to the hospital. A scare went through the school and the school instantly united. We all prayed for her and continue to pray for her.  Even if we did not know her, we still prayed for her. That is the best part about our school. We are all one big family. If one person goes through something, the school unites behind them and prays. My prayers go out to Myndi and her family.  The last I heard she was stable, but she is not out of trouble just yet. I would like to ask everyone to pray for her and her family.
