Saddleback Valley Christian Rallies for First-Round Victory

Warriors bounces back from four-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting Providence, 80-65, in first round of CIF Southern Section Division 5A boys basketball playoffs.

Sophomore center Nick Worrel scored a team-high 29 points to help rally Saddleback Valley Christian to an 80-65 victory over Providence High of Burbank in a first-round game of the CIF Southern Section Division 5A boys baskeball playoffs Wednesday night at the Warriors Dome.

The 13th-seeded Warriors trailed at halftime, 42-38.

Senior forward Zac Rodarmel added 22 points (14 in the second half) and and senior guard Josh Markum had 18 for SVCS  (21-6), which plays host to fourth-seeded Pasadena Poly on Friday at 7 p.m.
