Stallions Crush Marina, 51-7

Everyone was talking about Marina Friday night, but football had nothing to do with it.

San Juan Hills turned in another winning performance with a strong second-half that sent Marina High School of Huntington Beach to defeat. The Stallions were the opponent on the night when Marina became more famous for its homecoming queen than anything it has done on the field

Score: San Juan Hills 51, Marina 7

Key Stats: Senior quarterback Jacob Gibson completed 15 of 21 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns. Junior Mike Miscione carried nine times for 132 yards, averaging nearly 15 yards per carry, and scored twice. Gibson's passing yardage and Miscione's rushing yardage were season highs for each.

Pivotal Moment: San Juan Hills, up 15-7 at halftime, scored on a 26-yard touchdown run by Brad Kremer in the third the third quarter. But the killer came less than two minutes later, when Miscione peeled off an 80-yard score for a three touchdown lead. Marina hadn't scored more than three touchdowns this season.

Quotable: “Marina did a nice job of mixing up their blitz packages and we needed to settle down and pick them up," San Juan Hills coach Aaron Flowers told the Orange County Register. "We did a good job of figuring that out in the second half.”
