BLOG: What Will Rogers Would Have Said About Dinosaur Extinction

Extinct again? Or maybe we should have a referendum on Juan the Dinosaur?

Juan, the Dinosaur banished to extinction – again?

I said ‘hello’ to Juan last Friday at great and he looked a little sad about all the hullaballoo he has brought to our nice town.

I know there’s some of you out there that think we are a sanctuary city but Juan doesn’t think it applies to dinosaurs.

I don’t know of a single visitor to our town, , who has consistently brought so many excited out-of-towners to enjoy our restaurants and shops in such a short time. I know there’s been a bunch of us regulars who’ve made a special visit to since Juan came to town, too.

I’ve been talkin’ to folks from time to time since Juan arrived, and so far I’ve found four people who don’t like him and 40,000 who do. (Well, I didn’t actually talk to all 40,000, but that’s a reasonable extrapolation and not an exaggeration!)

Now folks, I’ve got an idea how we can solve this problem, and it’s somethin’ we’ve done several times before where the public decides what a private citizen gets to do with his property. It’s called a REFERENDUM! Let’s just put this whole thing on a ballot and let the people decide like we’ve done for other property owners and managers in town.

Oh, I know, it cost some money, but let’s agree up front that the loser pays the bills after the vote and put it out there for all of us to decide.

Who else is in favor of a referendum?
