Closures at the Ortega Scheduled This Week

It may be hard to get on and off the I-5 at Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano this week after 11 at night.

Starting this week, workers will begin to prepare for to build falsework – temporary structures to support bridge construction – at the I-5/Ortega Highway interchange, which will require full nighttime closures.

Nighttime closures of the northbound and southbound I-5 will not take place simultaneously. Instead, only one direction of the freeway will be closed at any given time, according to Caltrans. Specific closure schedules will be provided in future construction alerts.
