A Whole Lot of Burger Eatin' and Pumpkin Paintin' Going On

Here are the events ahead this week in San Juan Capistrano. You may get out of cooking a day or two.

1. It’s good to share: Today starts Rideshare Week, a weeklong event during which the Orange County Transportation Authority tries to get you to work any way but driving solo. If you pledge to carpool, vanpool, ride the bus, cycle, walk or – as we do in San Juan Capistrano – horseback it – you have a chance to earn prizes from many Orange County businesses and restaurants. To make the pledge or learn more, go here.

2. Eat a burger, help a school: Join Ambuehl family members, teachers, Principal Curt Visca and friends from 1-8  p.m. on Tuesday at Bravo Burger, 31722 Rancho Viejo Road in San Juan Capistrano. The school will get 15 percent from all purchases donated back to the Ambuehl PTA.  Make sure to show the PTA Bravo Burger flyer that will be sent home this week or mention that you are with Ambuehl Elementary School.

3. Eat a burger, help a school, take 2: Capistrano Valley Christian Schools will have a fundraiser 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ruby’s Diner. You’ll need the flier to help the school out.

4. Friday night lights: It’s homecoming time for St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. The Tartans (5-0) face Sage Hill (2-3) in the first Academy League game of the season.

5. Painting a pumpkin is easier than carving one … or is it? It’s paint-a-pumpkin day at Zoomars Saturday. Officially called Pumpkin Paintup, check it out between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Get all the details here.
