Last-Chance Football, Last Chance to Hike with the Mayor and Bargain Hunting

What's going on this weekend in San Juan Capistrano.

1. Football playoffs begin! In its first-ever post-season play, San Juan Hills faces Fountain Valley at home tonight. Meanwhile, St. Margaret’s takes on Twentynine Palms at home tonight, Capistrano Valley Christian faces off with Boron at San Clemente High tonight at 7:30 p.m. and Saddleback Valley Christian will face California Military Institute Saturday at home (at St. Margaret’s football field).

2. Remember that college financial workshop we told you about? It was for tonight, but it’s cancelled because of the aforementioned football game at San Juan Hills. Go Stallions!

3. Happy trails with the mayor: Mayor John Taylor will offer his last public hike. And this last one (he’ll be handing over the gavel next month to a new mayor) is going to be a doozey … up Patriot Hill. If you’re game, meet at 8 a.m. at the staging area at the end of Camino Las Ramblas and then head up to the flag pole, which is the start of the Patriot Trail. You can access the meeting spot from the I-5 exit at Camino Las Ramblas, and then head east. It is recommended that you bring drinking water and sun protection, such as sunblock and/or a hat.
