Very Short Plays, an Eco-Tour and a Casting Call for Pageants

1. If you don’t have the attention span for a three-act play: How about watching seven, 10-minute plays? It’s Show-off at the Camino Real Playhouse, a playwright’s festival where you get to select the winner. 8 p.m. They’ve got some interesting titles, including “Hamlet: It’s a Wonderful Life” (a smashup of the classics?) and “Repo Man vs. Pangea Girl.” Sounds supercontinental. 2. What’s that Ecology Center place all about? ]The Ecology Center is offering free, docent-led tours of the at 1 p.m. Saturday. For free! Explore The Eco-Labs and engage in ways you can help create a healthier, more sustainable future.

3. Get the steamy inside story of the Capistrano Hot Springs: Ilse Byrnes from San Juan Capistrano Historical Society (and Councilman Roy’s better half) will discuss the turbulent history of the San Juan Capistrano Hot Springs, from its heyday in the ’30s to its wooden hot tubs in the ’80s, 10 a.m. Saturday at the Caspers Park Nature Center. The event is free, even parking will be waived for attendees.

4. If anyone ever said, you outta be in pictures: Maybe they meant paintings. Pageant of the Masters is running a casting call this weekend for volunteers for the summer’s shows. To be considered, show up either between 7-9 p.m. Saturday or 2-5 p.m. Sunday at 650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach.
