The Ramos House Café is located in the Historic District, the oldest section of town. It is surrounded by buildings that were erected to house the workers who would come to build the Mission. The cafe is owned and operated by Executive Chef John Q. Humphreys, who opened it in 1994. His menu specializes in contemporary American cuisine, with homage to the traditional flavors and cuisine of the South. Breakfast and lunch are served all day Tuesday through Friday. Some of the Ramos House specials include potato, corn and buttermilk crab cakes with greens; Mac 'n cheese with smoked chicken and asparagus; and Southern fried chicken with buttermilk dressing. The restaurant features an outdoor garden, where diners can see and smell the fresh herbs being grown. The cafe is also a beautiful setting for a wedding or special event.
