The San Juan Capistrano Library is a branch of the larger Orange County public library system. It is located across theMore street from the historic Mission Basilica, and mirrors its Spanish architecture, albeit in a more modern style. There is a bookstore within the library that is run by the nonprofit Friends of the Library organization. It receives donated books, which it turns around and sells to residents for a small price. The library hosts books discussions, children's readings and adult book clubs. It has films, art books and art exhibits, and a separate section of the library is devoted to books and films that discuss the history of San Juan Capistrano and the Mission.

The Mollie Burke Bookstore is located in the San Juan Capistrano Regional Library and it is run by The Friends of theMore San Juan Capistrano Library, a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers who wish to support the library and its programs. The Friends sponsor a multicultural arts series of concerts, walking tours and a film festival. This small bookstore is located in the courtyard of the building and all profits go toward library-sponsored events.  It has a wonderful selection of English/Spanish children's books.

Friends of the SJC Regional Library

Friends of the SJC Regional Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization that supports the public library in San JuanMore Capistrano by sponsoring and producing events such as an architectural walking Tour, a First Friday film series and multicultural art series music events. It also operates the Mollie Burke Bookstore. The organization is always accepting new volunteers. Membership to the organization confers a year of free admissions to First Friday films and the architectural walking tour, and the $10 membership fee is tax-deductible.

Villa Paloma is a residential state-funded complex for seniors aged 55+ who are enrolled in a low-income housing taxMore credit program. It offers one and two-bedroom units that are close to shopping, dining and public transportation. The units offer balconies and full kitchens with dishwashers. It also accepts pets that weigh under 25 pounds. There are elevators, handrails and a community center fitness program. The complex has a library with a special reading area that is popular with the different book clubs that have formed.
